(Santa Rosa, CA) Author Todd DePastino will give two illustrated talks about the life and art of two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Bill Mauldin at the Charles M. Schulz Museum, first on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 1 p.m. and again on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 3 p.m. DePastino will also speak with visitors and sign books after each presentation. Both Mauldlin presentations are free with the price of museum admission.

Bill Mauldin served in the army during World War II and captured his experiences in the popular cartoon Up Front featuring Willie and Joe, two wise-cracking ‘dogfaces’ whose mud-caked uniforms and pidgin of army slang bore eloquent witness to the world of combat and the men who lived—and died—in it. DePastino’s presentation is based on his book, Bill Mauldin: A Life Up Front, which was named one of the best books of 2008 by the Boston Globe, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and others.

About Todd DePastino
DePastino is also the editor of Willie & Joe: The WWII Years. He teaches at Waynesburg University, and lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his wife and two daughters.
